Henry McKay – Pioneer Physical Trace UFOlogist
Henry McKay was a renowned pioneer UFOlogist from 1965 until his death in April of 2007 at the age of 80 (just after his birthday). He was a pioneer in investigating physical traces of UFOs — when a UFO reportedly landed he rushed to the scene. He never took “lights in the sky” type of cases, just those seen up close. He was born on March 23, 1927 and died April 15, 2007. He was also in the Air Force.
Henry was the very first director of MUFON in Canada (MUFON is headquartered in the USA and is one of the largest UFO research organizations in the world).
He began investigating reports of UFOs when he was an electrician in the Air Force. Although Henry had an interest in UFOs since the 1950s, he officially started investigating in 1965.
He was also the Director of Investigations for CAPIC (Canadian Aerial Phenomena Investigations Committee).
He gave a briefing at a hearing to the “Royal Commission of Electric Power Planning” in regards to UFO related power disturbances.
He was on the board of directors for the “North American UFO Federation” (headed by NASA scientist Dr.Richard Haines) and was their Deputy Director. For documentation of the North American UFO Federation click here.
He was an associate of CUFOS (headed by Dr.J. Allen Hynek who was the astronomy consultant to the U.S. Air Force’s UFO projects including Project Bluebook).
He also investigated for NICAP (headed by Major. Donald Keyhoe of the U.S. Marines).
He also investigated for APRO (Aerial Phenomena Research Organization), and was an associate of CAPRO (the Canadian APRO).
His work was written about in many books, including “The Philadelphia Experiment”.
He was also the editor for the “CUFORN Bulletin” (Canada’s oldest UFO newsletter).
Needless to say, Henry McKay was a wealth of information regarding UFOs. People came by the hundreds to hear his lectures. The Toronto Star newspaper called him the “Mr.Big in Canadian ufology” and “the foremost Canadian in tracking down visitors from outer space”. He was interviewed in countless newspapers, magazines, radio shows and television broadcasts. He also taught the first UFO course ever held in Canada and lectured widely at accredited universities, colleges, high schools, and libraries.
